Loreburn’s history

Loreburn is a village in the Rural Municipality of Loreburn No. 254, about 16 kilometres north of Elbow and south-east of Danielson Provincial Park, near Gardiner Dam on Lake Diefenbaker. It incorporated as a village on May 20, 1909.

The village's story was gathered in a hardcover history, From Mouldboard to Metric, published in 1978.

Today Loreburn is home to The 19ers Hockey Club, a senior team in the Sask Valley Hockey League that plays out of the Loreburn Arena. The club won championships in 1998 and 2000, and most recently in 2026. In 2019 the village opened an RV campground with 12 fully serviced sites. A gas station, credit union, Canada Post office and insurance broker serve the community, and the RM of Loreburn office and depot sit at the village's east entrance.
